HappyTap Hygiene Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Spring Health Water India Pvt. Ltd., set to revolutionize hand hygiene access for low-income households in Odisha, commencing on October 17, 2023.
While awareness regarding the importance of handwashing is widespread, studies have demonstrated that education alone is insufficient. Access to clean, functional, and conveniently located handwashing facilities is crucial for individuals to consistently practice proper hand hygiene at critical moments. This gap between awareness and implementation arises from the absence of dedicated handwashing spaces in households and public institutions, such as schools, anganwadi centers, and healthcare facilities.
Globally, a staggering 2 billion people—equivalent to one in four individuals—lack the ability to wash their hands at home. In India, the National Family Health Survey indicates that up to 40% of households in Odisha and Jharkhand lack access to water for handwashing. Addressing this critical need is at the core of HappyTap Hygiene Solutions and Spring Health's collaborative effort in the state of Odisha through the innovative Next Generation Handwashing Stations.
These portable handwashing stations operate without the need for electricity, plumbing, or a continuous water source, making them highly adaptable and easy to install in various locations, including indoor spaces, kitchens, and verandas. In addition to facilitating effective handwashing, the specially designed tap contributes to water conservation, reducing usage of water by up to 75% per wash. With a 15-liter tank, a family of four can maintain hand hygiene for up to four days.
Leveraging Spring Health's extensive 12-year experience and widespread reach among low-income households in Odisha, this partnership aims to bring clean hands within reach of approximately 40,000 rural, low-income households.
Having championed the cause of handwashing with soap and water since 2015, HappyTap Company is confident that the synergy between our two organizations will significantly benefit the low-income communities of Odisha.
