A narrated Black art exhibition, commemorating the African American's quest for equal rights.

Given Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida's endeavor to downplay the brutality of Black Slavery, artist Anthony Thomas has developed a narrated art exhibition known as Black Lives Marathon to remember the African American quest for justice, freedom, and equivalent rights.

Sculpted artwork composed of multiple panels of energetic runners symbolizing the black movement, paired with a six-page poem, composed in a progressive narrative, recounts the fight for black equality, beginning from slavery in America to the current time. And proposes a course of action which the artist has faith will result in continued improvement for the present generation, to whom the torch of justice has been handed.

The artist created this work with the belief that the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, and those who marched with him must continue, and not allow those who are born of ignorance, lack of empathy, and racism, to control the narrative. The poem underscores the success of the Civil Rights marches, and encourages its prolongation, by depicting a metaphorical race, or a 'hurry to the finish line', where the satisfaction of justice is secured. Hopefully, Black Lives Marathon will teach, inspire, and find its place as an anthem for all groups of men, women, and children, particularly the African American community.

The Black Lives Marathon concept uses the arts to awaken the youth as a powerful force for democracy, imploring the now generation to take action and implement change for a better tomorrow. The marriage of art and poetry in this profound presentation delivers a powerful and relevant message and is an absolute powerhouse representation of the African American struggle.
