13th June 2011 - Team building activities can be very useful for building up of a very successful team. A team is the foundation of any organization. During work, it is important to note that a single person may have work in many cases. He might be in two teams for two different tasks and also have his own individual work. So to be able to manage time as well as improve the efficiency of the team, there is a need for coordination between the members of the team.
The Team Building Games can be played, either within office hours or played as a game outside the office. It need not always be a game. It can also be a trail drill like task which gets and keeps the members of the team on their toes. There are many books and magazines which provide the information about the games and activities that can be followed in an organization. The tasks are set such that the job involves quick decision making, better involvement by all the members of the team and the need for coordination between the members.
The team activities should be included as a general part of the schedule and all members of the team should be present during these tasks, as each and every member is important for the proper working of the team. The tasks can go on for days on end, or it can just be a short game last a few hours. Whatever it is, it sure should have a discussion time in the end, to take the necessary corrective measures. The manager needs to make sure that all the members participate in the activities without fail.
The organization needs to make sure that all the tasks are made simple and that it shouldn’t require too much of a budget. Making use of the things that are found around the office is better and it helps in saving money too. The game should be such that, it shouldn’t have too many rules. The game rules should also be able to change according to the situation. If presently a game is being played with 4 teams of 4 members each, it should be able to be made 5X5. The simpler the activities, the more defined will be the tasks of the members. Team Building activities should be taken seriously and not as a joke, as it is an important part of the organization.
