Film And TV Industry Is Open For Trained And Dedicated Artists

ICMEI Webinar Role of Casting Directors in Films And Television, Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of AAFT

 
New Delhi: An interesting and timely webinar was organized by International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry by inviting the casting directors from Mumbai to project the correct position of the film and TV industry.

“The media and entertainment industry has grown with time. The number of film productions in Hindi as well as in regional languages has increased a lot. Accordingly the requirements of artist and technicians have gone much higher. The industry is catering to more than ten million workers in different segments and departments,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah Chancellor AAFT University initiating the webinar. Dr. Marwah said that you are not supposed to get glamourized in this industry but create waves to generate glamour for others, is the correct rule.

“There is a huge demand of educated and trained people in the industry who have right aptitude towards this industry where every product is very expensive. No body will give you chance again and again if your attitude is not good. Your behavior matters in this industry,” said Abhimanyu Ray senior casting director known for his films like Rang De Basanti, Chak De, Rocket Singh, Teen Pati, Kabul Express etc.

“There is lots of competition and It is survival of the fittest. You have to be on your toes. Auditions are the best way to get into the industry as far as acting is concerned. The new comers should not avoid small roles or small assignments,” said Priyata Dixit who has started her carrier with Ad Guru Prahalad Kakar and has been as casting Director with Sujoy Ghosh, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Goldie Behl.

“Television commercial are a very big segments for those who want to be on screen. It gives you instant presence and survival in Mumbai. You should never afraid from presenting yourself as the best actor as you can be suitable for any good role at a given time,” added Anamika Singh casting director and promoter of Veda Talents.

“One audition means hundreds of people at the same time. It gives us an opportunity to find the correct and appropriate artist for a given role and also to create our own artist bank, therefore one should keep on attending auditions without hesitation,” said Taran Bajaj casting director for Anurah Kashyap’s Bamfaad directed by Ranjan Chandel, Salman Khan’s Kagaz directed by Satish Kaushik, Jar Picture’s Halahal directed by Randeep Jha.

“Well there is a new heavy demand of young talented artists now for coming web series. There is a big scope for those who are ready for hard work. Events also keep these actors busy in Mumbai which is now a big business ,” said Rythem Dutta Event Designer and founder of Dearc Entertainment.

The session was very interactive and all the guests answered many questions asked by the young acting students of AAFT University. Ashok Tyagi General Secretary ICMEI paid vote of thanks.
