New York, NY, October 03, 2013 -- The use of statins such as Lipitor can cause cataracts, according to a study featured in a Sept. 20 Reuters article. Researchers compared 7,000 people on statins and 7,000 who were similar in characteristics but not on statins and found what Dr. Ishak Mansi, the study's senior author from the Univ. of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the Dallas VA Medical Center, found to be a consistent results pointing toward an increased risk of cataracts, according to Reuters.*
