Intelligent InSites’ real-time operational intelligence platform provides hospitals with more ways to improve hand hygiene and deliver safer care.

Fargo, ND, September 05, 2013 -- Intelligent InSites, Inc., the leading provider of real-time operational intelligence for healthcare, has announced an integration with HyGreen, a leading provider of patient safety technology.

HyGreen’s hand hygiene monitoring system records all hand hygiene events in the hospital and reminds healthcare workers to wash before interacting with a patient.

The HyGreen hand-washing sensor detects a hand-washing event and—through a wireless signal—sends the healthcare worker ID, time, and location to the HyGreen database. While the healthcare worker takes care of the patient, the HyGreen bed monitor recognizes that the badge is blinking green, and transmits the time and location of the interaction and the healthcare worker ID to the database. If the badge is not green, the bed monitor recognizes that the hand washing event has not taken place and will vibrate to remind the healthcare worker to wash hands.

“We are pleased to be selected by HyGreen as their software platform for their innovative hand-hygiene solution for healthcare,” said Ralf Mehnert-Meland, Director of Developer/OEM Relationships at Intelligent InSites. “By continuously expanding the number of applications available on our platform, we are helping our leading healthcare system customers to deliver better care for their patients.”

“Our hand hygiene monitoring solution documents all hand-hygiene events in the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing infection preventionists with accurate, real-time hand-hygiene data to effect changes in hand-hygiene behavior,” said Richard J. Melker, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer at HyGreen. “By using Intelligent InSites and our hand-hygiene solution, healthcare providers are able to dramatically reduce the risk of hospital acquired infections (HAI), resulting in improved patient safety and reduced financial consequences of HAI.”

The Intelligent InSites operational intelligence platform—which collects and processes data, in real-time, from healthcare IT systems, electronic health records, nurse call systems, communications platforms, building management systems, and wireless sensory networks, including multiple RFID and RTLS hardware technologies—empowers multiple healthcare operations applications, including asset management, patient flow, bed management, environmental monitoring, infection control, surgical instrument tracking, rentals management, and consumable asset management, with real-time, actionable information. This ability to leverage real-time information across the enterprise enables healthcare organizations to improve operations and care delivery processes, resulting in more affordable care and improved patient satisfaction.
