African Well Fund Hosts Tweet a Well for Bono’s Birthday

24-hour Online Giving Campaign to Bring Clean Water to Angola. The event begins Friday May 9th at 3:00 p.m. EST and ends on May 10th, the singer's 54th birthday.

 
Schenectady, NY, May 07, 2014 -- African Well Fund is hosting ”Tweet a Well for Bono’s Birthday,” an exclusive 24-hour online giving campaign in honor of the singer’s 54th birthday. The campaign takes place from 3:00 p.m., EST Friday, May 9 – 3:00 p.m., EST Saturday, May 10. During the event, people are encouraged to tweet, blog, and post to encourage others to donate using the hashtag #Bonowell. Donors can follow results live on http://www.crowdrise.com/12thAnnualBuildaWell.

The event closes out the 12th Annual Build a Well for Bono’s Birthday fundraiser which was launched on April 1st. This campaign aims to raise $10,000 to fund a community-based water and sanitation project in Angola.

The project, which will be implemented by African Well Fund partner Africare, aims to increase access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation. It will benefit more than 12,000 people in the Ebo municipality of the Kwanza Sul Province in Angola.

“Every donation, no matter how small or large, really does make a difference when combined with donations from fans all over the world,” said Rob Trigalet, African Well Fund board chairman. “And access to clean water and sanitation can not only change lives, it can save them.”

All donors are encouraged to add their name and a message to a birthday card on the African Well Fund website, which will be sent to Bono.

The 11 previous campaigns in Bono’s honor have raised over $225,000. Projects have been funded to to help more than 60,000 people in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
