Albany, NY, April 09, 2014 -- Greater NY/NJ Region #15, of Sweet Adelines International, includes more than 900 women who sing in 23 choruses and 41 registered quartets within its regional borders.

Greater NY/NJ Region #15, of Sweet Adelines International, includes more than 900 women who sing in 23 choruses and 41 registered quartets within its regional borders. The region will hold a mass sing on the steps of the New York State Capitol Building at 12 noon on Friday, April 11th. The rain location will be inside the Empire State Plaza on the concourse. All are welcome to come and enjoy the sounds of a cappella, four-part harmony in the barbershop style.

The mass sing event is free and kicks off the region’s annual Convention (April 10th -13th, 2014) which is being held in Albany for the first time since the region expanded to include more New York state choruses. Albany Mayor, Kathy Sheehan is scheduled to read a proclamation declaring April 11th, 2014 “Sweet Adelines Day”. The performers will include members of Greater NY/NJ Region #15 choruses who will sing songs such as Let There Be Peace on Earth, Kickin’ It Up a Notch, Tuxedo Junction and Best of Times.

Also open to the public are the regional contests for both choruses and quartets which will be held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. The Quartet Competition begins at 2pm on Friday, April 11, 2014 and the Chorus Competition begins at 12 noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Tickets will be on sale at the ticket office at Empire State Plaza Convention Center ticket booth just before each competition. For either the Quartet or Chorus competitions, tickets are $25.00 each ($10.00 each for students).

Tickets are $20 for the Show of Champions, which will be held at in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel at 8pm on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Tickets can be purchased at Empire State Plaza Convention Center ticket booth.
