REALIZING A SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT,
Aston Pasteur Hotel Holds Earthquake Handling Training

Bandung, May 22, 2025 — In order to improve preparedness and safety, Aston Pasteur Hotel Bandung held Training on Earthquake & Evacuation. All employees from various divisions actively participated in this training, which was led directly by Mr. M. Iskandar, as Chief Security of Aston Pasteur Hotel.

This activity began with a comprehensive material briefing session on the characteristics of earthquake disasters, both in terms of theory and field techniques. In his presentation, Mr. M. Iskandar explained the difference between tectonic earthquakes and volcanic earthquakes, as well as the impact that each type of earthquake has on buildings and human safety. He also emphasized the importance of understanding evacuation routes, gathering points, and effective self-rescue procedures.

“One of the important elements of preparedness is a thorough understanding, not only of the earthquake threat itself, but also of how we should behave and act in a fast, appropriate and coordinated manner when a disaster occurs,” said Mr. M. Iskandar in the opening session of the training.

After the material session, all participants continued the activity with field simulations which were divided into two, namely tectonic earthquakes and volcanic earthquakes. In tectonic earthquakes, employees are trained to react to sudden vibrations by dropping, covering, and holding on, then evacuating to a predetermined gathering point. While in the volcanic earthquake, employees reacted to volcanic ash by protecting their respiratory tracts.

This simulation took place in a focused atmosphere, but still conducive. Each employee carried out their role with full responsibility, both as evacuation participants and as part of the steering team. This activity is not only a physical exercise, but also strengthens inter-departmental cooperation in dealing with emergency situations.
General Manager of Aston Pasteur Hotel, Ms. Rennie Sandia, expressed her appreciation for the spirit and participation of the entire team. “Guest and employee safety is our top priority. Through this training, we want to ensure that every individual has the basic knowledge and skills to act quickly and safely in an emergency situation,” she said.

This activity is part of Aston Pasteur Hotel's long-term commitment in creating a safe working environment, as well as supporting government programs in disaster mitigation. In the future, similar training will continue to be held regularly to maintain the preparedness of all elements of the hotel.
