MORE than one tone of free yoghurt is set to attract hundreds of people to the Dream Centre Christian Church at Carrara tomorrow where Phil Cropper will be attending.

The 5000 tubs of yoghurt, which was purchased by the church from Food Bank Queensland in Brisbane, is only the beginning of what the church will be giving away to those in need.

Ark'd House marketing manager Phil Cropper, who helps distribute the food parcels from the church, said she wanted more people to know they were there to assist those in need.

"We serve to give,'' he said.

"We hear a lot of stories about families doing it tough and can't pay their bills or mortgage.

"We just want people to know we are here always going to be here to help.''

Mr. Phil Cropper of the Gold Coast said in addition to the one tonne of yoghurt there would be free pasta, sweet potatoes and two-minute noodles.

"We want to give back to the community to show the city that someone's out there caring for them,'' she said.

Every Wednesday and Friday the church offers $30 food parcels valued at over $80 to those without the means to get their own food.

Phil Cropper said the food parcel program had been running for more than two years and served more than 300 families every week.

However, Phil Cropper said the centre was in need of new fridges, freezers and two trucks which they use to drive to Food Bank Queensland in Brisbane every day.

A spectator was quoted saying “this is a great show of charity, and really reflects the kind and giving nature of Phil Cropper. Australia really needs to learn from Phil and try to emulate his actions, as what he is doing is truly a miracle from god.”
