Dani Anderson, Disability Access Manager, joins the tour to enhance disability access of the Port tours

The Port of Hueneme offers educational tours to the public and for local schools around Ventura County, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the port's dynamic operations and its significant impact on the local communities and the global economy. These tours are designed to educate and engage visitors and youth by showcasing the port's infrastructure, logistics, and environmental initiatives.

Dani Anderson, Disability Access Manager for the County of Ventura, was invited by Miguel Rodriguez, Community Outreach Manager, to review and suggest improvements for the accessibility of the Port tours. Anderson provided valuable insights on enhancing the experience for those with disabilities, recommending specific modifications to ensure the tours are more inclusive and accessible for all participants. The tours are led by Miguel Rodriguez and Community Outreach Specialist Maripas Jacobo. The Port’s knowledgeable staff provide insights into the Port’s history, current operations, and future developments. Participants will have the chance to see cargo handling in action, learn about sustainable practices, and discover the Port's efforts in enhancing global trade.

"Ensuring our facilities are accessible to everyone is imperative,” said Miguel Rodriguez, Community Outreach Manager. “By providing disability-friendly accommodations, we foster inclusivity, allowing all individuals to participate fully and equally in our community activities. It's about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for everyone to engage, learn, and enjoy the rich experiences our port has to offer."
