The human body is a well-coordinated system of organs, their functional orchestration, and a brain-controlled feedback mechanism. The heart, as one of the important organs, acts as a pump, pushing blood to various parts of the body in order to give it oxygen and food. Blood pressure is exerted on the walls of blood vessels as it travels through a closed network of arteries and veins. "Blood Pressure," or simply BP, is the name given to this pressure. In layman's terms, it's a measurement of how hard your heart is working to meet your body's demands.

The Sphygmomanometer or Blood Pressure Monitor is a device that is calibrated to measure blood pressure. It consists of: an inflated Cuff to be wrapped around the arm, at a vertical height at the same level as the heart, to restrict blood flow when wrapped around the arm.

A mercury or mechanical manometer is characterised by a vertical glass column carrying mercury or a gauge.
A Rubber Ball is linked to it via a pipe to inflate the Cuff.

To measure blood pressure, there are two primary methods: auscultatory and oscillometric, which are categorised into two types: manual and digital BP monitors. Based on the presence or absence of the Mercury column, manual ones can be further divided into Mercury and Aneroid.

Blood Sugar

When you have diabetes, your blood sugar (also known as blood glucose) levels are likely to be continuously high. This can harm your body and cause a slew of other issues over time.

When you diet or fast, the liver maintains your levels by converting fat and muscle to sugar. Some people's levels may fall somewhat lower.
