SGS reports on the Netherlands’ revision of its food contact metals and alloys requirements under the country’s Commodities Act.

Geneva (April 16, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 054.25, detailing revisions to the Netherlands’ food contact metals and alloys requirements.

Under reference number 3976782-1072880-WJZ, the Regulation of the State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport amends the requirements for food contact metals and alloys set out in the country’s Commodities Act on Packaging and Consumer Articles. Specific release limit values for chromium and manganese have become less stringent, and the changes became effective on January 1, 2025.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 054.25 includes a useful table with the key changes and where they can be found in the Commodities Act.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 054.25 for more details.
