SGS publishes SafeGuardS looking at Turkey’s amendments to its import control requirements for maternity and baby products.

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 042.24 to provide an overview of Turkey’s revisions to its import communiqué for maternity and baby products.

Communiqué on Import of Maternity and Baby Products (Product Safety and Inspection 2024/17) was published in December 2023. This governs the import controls for these goods via the Risk-Based Control System for Foreign Trade (TAREKS). TAREKS is a system for electronically conducting safety and quality inspections on imported (and exported) goods.

Annexes 1 to 3 of the communiqué were revised by Communiqué 2024/34 on March 1, 2024. This came into force on the day of issue and retroactively applied from January 1, 2024.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 042.24 contains a summary of the update and includes a table with highlights of the amendments.

Stakeholders should review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 042.24 for more details.
