Birla Academy of Art & Culture Presents the Screening of Two Popular Documentary Films

Birla Academy of Art & Culture has taken the initiative of screening two highly coveted documentary films filled with a sense of artistic richness.

 
The adage “art echoes life” is relevant for all kinds of creative renditions, right from paintings, sculptures, textile work and many more. Indian artworks from time to time have seen the emergence of talented artists that have left an imprint on the psyche of art lovers and philosophers with their creative calibre. The Birla Academy of Art & Culture strive towards honouring and honing artistic work and showcasing the same in front of its interested audience. The gallery takes yet another excellent initiative in screening two documentary films with rich subject matter that will appeal to the heart and touchevery artistic soul.

The two films that are to be screened in the gallery are produced by Film Division Govt of India. And the two names are “Amrita Sher Gill” and “Ganesh Pyne: A Painter of Eloquent Silence”. The event is taking place on Friday, June 17th at Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata unit at evening 6:30pm. The documentary film “Amrita Sher Gill” elucidates the paintings by this talented painter who died at a young age of 28.

This documentary film has duration of 19 minutes and has been directed by director B.D.Garga. Amrita Sher Gil was considered to be the “Frida Khalo” of India and was one of the most celebrated Indian female artists. Her artworks have been highly influenced by “realism”. The artist time and again through her work has been depicting the lives of the people that inhabited in her locality. The documentary film on Ganesh Pyne is 24 minutes long and has been made under the creative expertise of Buddhadeb Dasgupta, who is an esteemed poet as well as a contemporary Indian filmmaker. The director would be present to introduce the film and to render essential insight about the documentary film.
