The owners of Tremendous Maid and Boston‘s Best Commercial Cleaning, in partnership with the Wellesley branch of People’s Bank, are offering all employees a Financial Literacy class to help them learn about such basic things as checking accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, credit scores and credit in general.

In addition, employees will learn about managing money, saving for retirement, having a budget and ultimately how to buy a house, car or other major purchase.

These classes are geared toward helping people develop the skills, concept and knowledge to implement personal financial decision making skills. This will enable them to become financially wise and savvy consumers, as well as being better at saving, spending and investing money.

Financial literacy can make a big difference in everyone’s life. Knowledge is power. It can be tremendously helpful to learn about some of the shadier sides of finance, too, such as payday loans and title loans, along with other forms of predatory lending, including identity theft and fraud.

Later on this year, when it becomes available, Classes will be offered to employees that will help them learn about the new U.S. Treasury retirement savings account called myRA.

To date, about half of the employees at Tremendous Maid and Boston’s Best Commercial Cleaning Service have taken the Financial Literacy class, with nine more two hour classes pending.

Next up on the curriculum for these local companies and their employees are courses on English and Computer Training.
