Store photography is a very specific niche with ever tightening standards. Many websites are already full of photography and do not accept any new images using some categories. Many other places have increased their photography standards basically so they receive less images.
It is a packed niche, yet you can plenty of poor selling stock images. Many stock images do sell because they don't look stock on the outside, yet are not desirable to be called real stock images. Many so called stock photographs are just cannon fodder to fill space or to be bought and used at low prices.
To create stock images that promote you have to first look at what the current market trend is. As of this writing, the best selling and most selling category of stock images is Business. This includes everybody in a business suit, paper work, desk jobs, busy exploring employees, happy employees and a lot more. Just think of anything that would be from a typical office setting and you will have for yourself a good start on store business photography.
Though that is not good enough to be top stock. That may photos exactly like above, so you need what other don't provide: what people want. Look at the top selling stock photo websites and see the kind of business photographs sell in particular and you will notice a specific trend.
Online business photos see, but mostly specific types. Photos of quite a few business people, or workers sell particularly well. As well as photos for meetings, presentations, group work and of generally happy or subject material people. Pictures that are highly wanted are ones that clearly show action.
It doesn't have to be fast paced fighting action or anything of your sort. The type of action photography you want to take is business thing. These are things like handshakes, deal signing, work getting done, and just about any sort of moving forward "action" a business and corporation can take.
A fair warning, you might be tempted to take a few "negative" photos. Sad, indignant or even disgruntled or confused business people. Simply said: Don't. Some of these pics will sell, though they are a waste of your time. They don't sell approximately as much as positive images.
Just like sex sells, so does joy and happiness, hope and ambition. So when you are taking your top stock snap shots, make sure they are of generally happy workers (if you include people) and are 'business action' shots.
