There are so many ways to keep yourself cool without turning your air conditioner. However, when humidity rises at 90 degrees, it is a different issue. Turning on the AC is a must. But how can we save our AC?

Cool Nights: During night time, room temperature is lower than the morning. So to save energy, try turning it down to 82° F or turn it to “sleep mode” if your unit has one.

Window or Portable Units: Are you trying to cool your whole house or just your room? If you only need your room to be cool during hot days, it is better to purchase a smaller size like a window size AC unit for your room. It will reduce the hardwork of your units and it will run longer efficiently.

Annual Maintenance: AC needs maintenance. When purchasing an AC system always consider if they rendered an annual maintenance. Checking them time to time will reduce the tendency of breakage.

Check your Ducts: Keep watch of your air ducts. Clean air ducts let the air pass through. Keeping the air cool

Rearrange Furniture: Rotate your furniture to enable the air from the aircon to flow throughout the house or room. Do not let your furniture block the AC unit for it will take longer time to be able to cool the whole area.

Lighting: Light from bulbs and fluorescents are hot. Turning them off for the moment will let the air cool faster.

Anybody Home?: When everyone is out, turn off the unit. During the daytime, close the curtains to block the sunlight from the outside from entering the room or the house. When you come back it will still feels cool inside. Cool enough to cover you while your AC that you just turned on is still cooling the place. Or you can leave the aircon at 85° F when you’re at work or away.

Make Use of Your Fan: Turning them on will help the air circulate the area while the AC is still in the process of cooling the room.
If it is not too hot outside, using the electric fan is the wiser one. They use less energy and help your AC units rest for a while

77-78 Degrees: If you are used in using the 71 degree setting. Try changing them to 77-78 degrees it saves 3-6% of your energy bills and your AC as well. Try turning one degree higher if it still suits you, then it is good. You will see how it affects your energy bills.
