Gallucci’s New Role Underscores His Commitment To Advancing Access To Rehabilitative Care And Shaping Healthcare Policy Through National Advocacy Efforts

Bridgewater, N.J. (May 14, 2025) – JAG Physical Therapy, one of the fastest growing comprehensive physical and occupational therapy practices providing rehabilitative care to patients and sports teams in over 160 locations across the Northeast, announces that President and CEO John Gallucci Jr. has joined the Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation (APTQI) as the Board Director for the Affiliate Members.

APTQI was established in 2014 to defend physical therapy against policy threats that restrict the provider community’s ability to provide quality care. Its growing membership includes some of the nation’s largest national and regional community-based physical therapy provider companies. Gallucci’s new role is an exciting opportunity for him and JAG Physical Therapy to advance the field of rehabilitative care through advocacy and innovation. As a nationwide alliance, members of APTQI share a common goal to work collaboratively with other providers who share a common vision for the future of their profession.

"JAG Physical Therapy joined APTQI in 2021 and they have been a terrific partner in advocating for our patients and therapists," said Nikesh Patel, Executive Director of APTQI. "I look forward to continuing to work with John as part of our Board to ensure the value of physical therapy is recognized by decision makers."

In March, Gallucci joined fellow APTQI leaders in Washington, D.C. for meetings with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill. During these sessions, the group educated and advocated for two key legislative priorities: Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly (SAFE) Act (H.R. 1171), and Medicare physician fee schedule reform. The SAFE Act, if passed, would increase Medicare recipients’ access to falls risk assessments by physical and occupational therapy: an essential step in preventing falls, hospitalizations, and long-term health complications among older Americans, and increasing access to physical therapy as a pain management tool in lieu of opioids. Additionally, years of cuts to Medicare’s physician fee schedule have threatened the financial sustainability of outpatient therapy practices. APTQI is committed to working with lawmakers to support long-term stabilization efforts that protect both providers and their patients, and potentially save billions annually in federal healthcare spending.

“The physical therapy field is in critical need of legislative support to turn around negative trends that endanger the livelihood of providers. In fact, the services we provide are a key solution to not only improve patient outcomes, but reduce overall Medicare spending,” said Gallucci. “I’m optimistic that my work with APTQI and the relationships we’re building with our elected leaders will help create a better healthcare system that works for Americans.”
