“Beautiful Woman Inside and Out” conference comes to Charlotte, NC,
bringing health, national experts and positive motivation to hundreds of women and teens


Bowie, Maryland – October 3, 2016 – In just a few weeks, hundreds of women are expected to converge on Charlotte for two days of positive learning and empowerment, bringing to the south the nationally-celebrated conversation on beauty, health and spirituality.
“It is important to me to bring a bit of rejuvenation, healing and uplift to the city of Charlotte, my beloved state of North Carolina,” says Dr. Sharon Allison-Ottey (also known as Dr. Sharon), a nationally-recognized author, speaker, physician, health advocate and host of the “Beautiful Woman Inside and Out” conferences held during the year across the country.
The two-day, high-energy event — to be held Dec. 2-3 at the Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park Hotel — will be filled with leading national experts from health/wellness and fitness to fashion, beauty, hair and other motivational speakers.
A native of Kannapolis, NC, Dr. Sharon is an unapologetic “North Carolina girl.”
“I am blessed to have my core family still in Carolina, to have been groomed and educated here. But every time I come home, I am just “Sharon.”
Dr. Sharon says women will tackle topics from health and body image to how to love yourself and balance the demands of family.
“I will be the first to admit, being known as the Deacon’s daughter and the “smart” girl — with unruly hair and those extra pounds in all the “wrong” places — I didn’t always feel beautiful,” says Dr. Sharon, a North Carolina Central University graduate and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. “I didn’t feel that my looks were up to par and I felt intimidated by the women in the magazines and the beauty queens.”
While in medical school at East Carolina University School of Medicine, Dr. Sharon found she was stuck having more “dates” with cadavers at midnight than with football players, trading the scent of perfume for the smell of embalming fluids. “Needless to say, I wasn’t quite feeling desirable as a woman, but my journey into medicine made me proud and worthwhile.”
“But as I’ve grown older, I have realized that beauty is not only on the outside, it radiates from everything in a woman. That’s what this conference is all about; don’t be fooled by the name—we truly embrace women of all ages, races, professions, etc… We inspire them to be their BEST!”
The conference begins on Friday, Dec. 2nd with a special afternoon session, followed by the infamous Friday “Girls Night” – a free pre-event open to all registrants, filled with pampering sessions, music, food and fun.
On Saturday Dec. 3rd, as the main conference opens, there will be a simultaneous teen conference, “Becoming a Beautiful Woman Inside and Out,” which focuses on girls 12-17. There will also be an Author’s Salon, where writers will discuss their books and attendees can purchase autographed copies — perfect for the holidays.
