Catherine Sergautis is proud to announce five years as a registered practical nurse.  A graduate of the Health Studies program at Niagara College in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Catherine Sergautis finished school in 2008 and immediately moved back to London, Ontario where she has lived for most of her life to seek work in the nursing field.  “I take a lot of pride in what I do,” said Catherine Sergautis. “Even more than that, I really appreciate the opportunity to care for members of the community that I’ve lived in nearly my entire life.”
As a registered practical nurse, Catherine Sergautis is responsible for the first aspects of care that patients receive when they first arrive at the doctor’s office. This includes taking the vital signs of patients, collecting samples, managing patient records, and administering medications. “The most important thing I do, though,” says Catherine Sergautis, “is greet people with a smile and a positive attitude. It helps everyone to feel a little bit better and makes their interactions with the doctor go more smoothly.” Catherine Sergautis is also a member of the Registered Professional Nurses Association of Ontario and one of over 38,000 registered professional nurses in the province, more than 32,000 of whom are actively practicing.
Catherine Sergautis wasn’t always a registered practical nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, Catherine Sergautis was a graduate of Fanshawe College who went on to work for London Life, a local and well established insurance company. “Making the switch over to nursing was the best thing I ever did,” enthuses Catherine Sergautis. “It allows me to really make a difference and fulfills my need to care for people. That’s really why I became a registered practical nurse – I wanted to take care of people.”
Catherine Sergautis’s office honored her five year commitment to outstanding care this past week. While she was celebrated, Catherine Sergautis expressed her own appreciation for the people she works with. “My fellow nurses and our supervising doctors are the kindest and most committed health care professionals that I know and I’m proud to work alongside them. It’s been a really amazing five years.”
