Youth as the Driving Force of Zambia’s Progress
According to the Central Statistical Office, over 70% of Zambia’s population is under the age of 35, making the youth a critical force in shaping the nation’s political, economic, and social trajectory. The Ministry reiterates that Zambia cannot move forward without fully engaging this energetic, talented, and innovative majority.
Ongoing Government Commitment to Youth Empowerment
In direct alignment with Dr. Zulu’s message, the Ministry has continued to roll out programs aimed at developing and supporting Zambia’s youth, including:
✅ National Youth Empowerment Scheme (NYES)
✅ Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Training
✅ National Youth Policy Implementation Framework 2024–2028
✅ Support for youth innovation, creative industries, and digital platforms
These programs aim to ensure that youth are not left behind, but are fully supported in their pursuit of leadership, innovation, and national contribution.
A Strong Push Toward Civic Participation
Ahead of the 2026 General Elections, the Ministry calls upon all eligible young Zambians to:
Register as voters
Participate in civic education
Get involved in policy-making
Consider running for public office
“We echo Dr. Mumba Zulu’s call. Zambia’s youth are already leading in communities, businesses, and social platforms. It’s time we give them the power and recognition they deserve in shaping national policy and progress,” said a spokesperson from the Ministry.
