Washington, DC – CHOMEX, a leader in modular and expandable housing, has unveiled the J. Carter Pod, a new, compact modular home honoring the late President Jimmy Carter’s lifelong commitment to housing initiatives. Known for his humanitarian work with Habitat for Humanity, Carter believed that secure housing was a fundamental human right—a vision that CHOMEX seeks to uphold with this latest innovation.
The J. Carter Pod is a 10-foot expandable modular home offering a bedroom, bathroom with shower, mini kitchen, and living/dining area in a space-efficient design. Engineered with Grade 3 fire-retardant materials, double-pane windows, and premium insulation, the unit withstands extreme weather conditions, including Hurricane Category 5 winds.
Ideal for homeless shelters, veteran housing programs, emergency housing, and affordable housing initiatives, the J. Carter Pod is priced at $15,000, including delivery and site drop. Bulk purchases of four or more units reduce the price to $12,000 per unit, making large-scale solutions more accessible.
"President Carter dedicated much of his life to ensuring people had a safe place to call home. Naming this model after him reflects our commitment to continuing that mission," said Jake Thompson, CHOMEX spokesperson.
