Chemotherapy

Often times, patients who have chemotherapy or find that they need to stop taking certain medications because of the side effects caused by the drugs. Also, chemotherapy has been known to cause some menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats and increased menstrual cycle.
Other commonly used breast cancer therapeutics include immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, monoclonal antibodies, and targeted drug therapy. Immunotherapy is a form of therapy that involves using antibodies to fight against the cancerous cells. The most common types of antibodies used in immunotherapy are interferon gamma and human immunodeficiency virus. Monoclonal antibodies work by stimulating the production of cells by the immune system.
Hormone Therapy
It is a breast cancer therapeutics that generally work by either blocking certain hormones from binding to target receptors in cancer cells or by reducing the amount of hormones that are produced by the body. Because some drugs used in hormone therapy have the potential to cause changes in cancer cell metabolism, safety is an issue for using hormone therapy in cancer patients. It is important for women diagnosed with breast cancer to understand the risks and benefits of hormone therapy and to discuss the method of hormonal therapy intended for their specific case with their oncology specialist. Hormone therapy is often accompanied by a lumpectomy or mastectomy, which is a surgical procedure to remove the tumor or lymph nodes containing Hormone receptor cells (which are thought to be the source of abnormal Hormone secretion).
