On July 27, 1916, Mysore University was founded. It is the country's sixth oldest and the first in the state of Karnataka. It was the first university to be accredited by NAAC in 2006, with an A+ rating and a five-star rating.
Mysore University has broken into the top tier of varsities, being ranked 19th in the country by the Government of India's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
