Chennai Super Kings which is the most successful IPL franchise. The Chennai based franchise plays its home matches at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The franchise is owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd.

The Chennai based franchise has won three IPL titles along with IPL franchise Mumbai Indians who have also won 3 IPL titles. CSK emerged as winners for the IPL seasons 2010, 2011 and 2018. Apart from IPL, CSK has also won the Champions League Twenty20 in 2010 and 2014.

The previous IPL season 2018 was the comeback season for CSK after a two-year suspension from the IPL from July 2015 due to the involvement of their owners in the IPL 2013 betting case along with Rajasthan Royals. In their comeback season, they lifted the title for the third time.

CSK holds the record of most appearances in the IPL playoffs that is Nine and in the IPL final that is seven. It will be interesting to watch CSK in the IPL 2019 season and to see whether they will clinch the IPL title for the fourth time or not.

The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League is going to start from March 29 and will continue till May 19. A month ago, all the IPL franchises have submitted the list of players retained and released by them and IPL Auction for the upcoming season has concluded recently.

The list of retained players include MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Deepak Chahar, Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh, N Jagadeesan, Shardul Thakur, Monu Kumar, Chaitanya Bishnoi, KM Asif, Karn Sharma, Dhruv Shorey, Faf du Plessis, M Vijay, Sam Billings, Mitchell Santner, David Willey, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja.

While CSK has bought players two players. Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 20 lakh and Mohit Sharma for Rs 5 crore. The team is captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and is coached by Stephen Fleming.
