ATLANTA, GA, Nov. 7—The NYO A-League Lugnuts season ended in defeat this weekend. Despite their undefeated regular season, winning every game, the Lugnuts came up just short; they fell to the Red Wings in extra innings this weekend at Ridgeview Charter Middle School.

They had an extraordinary season, going undefeated for several months. One dugout parent noted: “This was an incredibly exciting game and certainly among the toughest games these kids have played in 2022. It was truly amazing to see how competitive these kids were. In the end, they lost, but fans got a glimpse of how stars are born.”

It’s true, some of the best baseball players in the world grew up playing in Atlanta. But to coaches Brandon Walters and Jordan Bayersdorfer, who continue to produce elite players that go on to do great things on the field and in life, it's not just about baseball. They know that to succeed, athletes must be both physically and mentally strong.

Parents and friends were proud of every athlete for finishing their season strong and representing the Lugnuts with pride, poise, and discipline. “Having a winning regular season was the goal for our team, but these ambitious kids wanted more than that” one fan remarked, continuing to say that these young athletes have “represented the Lugnuts and the NYO A-League exceptionally well, both on and off the field.”

Friends, neighbors, baseball fans, and Atlantans, if you see these kids out and about give them a little recognition, they have earned it. Atlanta will remember these phenomenal 8U ballplayers for years to come.
