There are constant mentions of active shooters or mass killings in the news. The figures are startling. The FBI designated 28 shootings in 16 states as active shooter incidents in just 2020. The report also discovered:

97 people were slain, including two police officers.

These events injured 150 individuals, including 15 law enforcement personnel

5 of the shooters committed themselves at the site. Police killed nine of the shooters, and one was killed by a bystander

Police detained 15 suspected active shooters.

Out of the 30 alleged shooters, 29 were men and one was a woman.

Workplace Violence
Workplace violence is defined as "any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive conduct that happens at the workplace," according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Threats and verbal abuse can progress to physical attacks and homicide. Specific occupations, such as delivery drivers, healthcare professionals, customer service representatives, or law enforcement officers, may have a greater stress level, a potential increase in workplace violence.

Workplace Active Shooter Warning Signs

Active shooter scenarios are unexpected, but there are warning signals to look for that can help you avoid a repeat assault and protect the safety of people around you. An active shooter in the workplace might be a current or former employee or someone they know. Employers and coworkers should be educated to check for behaviors that could indicate potential violence, including:

Increasingly unpredictable, dangerous, or violent conduct, as well as significant mood swings

Illegal drug and alcohol abuse

Changes in performance at work

Violations of company policies

Overreaction to changes in work policies or procedures

There has been a notable decrease in cleanliness and look. Sudden and drastic changes in one's personal life or personality

Financial difficulties

Observable complaints and retaliatory statements
