[Denver, August 18, 2016] – The Eating Disorder Center (EDC) of Denver offers a 10-week specialized track for binge eating disorder (BED) recovery. The center believes that recovery from the disorder is possible, so they strive to normalize eating and to explore the insights that may contribute to the path to it.

What are some symptoms of BED?

Recurrent episodes of rapid eating and uncomfortable fullness at least once a week in the last three months are symptoms of BED. Eating large amounts when not physically hungry, as well as with a sense of loss of control, are also indicators.

Additionally, depression, guilt, and marked distress may accompany the mentioned signs of BED.

What is EDC Denver’s BED track?

EDC Denver’s binge eating disorder treatment program is a 10-week specialized track that allows patients to learn and practice new skills that lead them to the path of recovery.

The BED track aims to achieve the following:

- Stop binge eating;
- Improve attitudes about shape and weight;
- Prevent weight gain and establish healthy eating patterns;
- Establish goals distinct from weight goals;
- Assess and clarify values; and
- Treat associated psychiatric impairment.

The track also includes psychological treatment strategies, individual and group psychotherapy sessions, group programs, and BED-specific groups.

EDC Denver uses a unique empowerment-based approach guided by five concepts: Connection, Acceptance, Mindfulness, Sense of Self, and Action. They look forward to guiding individuals on the journey to recovery.
