A recent survey has found that the the landscape business industry is currently on a shaky footing. The survey, conducted by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) is a quarterly business poll of key aspects of the landscape architecture industry, including business plans and hiring.

A recent ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)) survey has identified a changing scenario for the landscaping architecture sector after the recent recession. The survey addresses business statistics of the field of landscape architecture on a regular basis.

While the survey used an analysis of American respondents, common aspects revealed that the post recession impact, as seen across countries like Australia and the UK was also at play. For landscape architecture firms, this meant that while they are maintaining stability in the work hours they bill clients for, hiring has temporarily been put on a standstill.

The results showcase a mixed picture of the landscape architecture sector, and has influenced many firms to cancel massive human resources acquisitions plans. Previous interests in extensive hiring have fallen among the responding firms over the year.

Therefore, while the positive numbers (i.e. stable and increasing billable hours) means that the industry is pushing off the recession's impact slowly, there is still scope to heal the industry with higher demand for landscape architecture professionals.

The survey also touched upon a variety of other worklife aspects of the landscape architecture business, including the use of IT. This included questions on enterprise mobility (laptops, smartphones and tablets) as well as cloud computing. Unlike mobility solutions, cloud computing has still not become a common business investment. The industry is also largely indecisive on making investments on iPads and other mobile devices for their employees.

However, there are many Australian enterprises who have only grown in business success in the past two years. These include the Umbrella Landscape Architecture Melbourne, the Umbrella Consulting's landscape architecture division.

Umbrella Group Pty Ltd, for example, has expanded to a network of many offices across the country, including prosperous business hubs like Sydney and Melbourne.

For Australia Inc, Umbrella Consulting is fast emerging as an important provider of Engineering and building services. The company has dedicated teams to address region-specific needs. The Umbrella Civil Engineer Brisbane division, for example addresses architecture and design needed for the Brisbane based business community.

Today, the company's impressive list of clients are testament to its ability of delivering results in specialized sectors.
