Dr Alister George, MD offers his views on why physicians should donate their time.

 
Dr Alister George, MD earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine. During his years at Howard University College of Medicine he learned that his role as a physician would entail more than just treating and caring for patients. Dr Alister George, MD learned that he needed to give back to those who are not able to receive quality health care.

Howard University College of Medicine is a branch of Howard University in Washington, D.C. Howard University is one of the United States’ Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Dr Alister George, MD states he was proud to attend one of the leading universities in the country for African-Americans. “At Howard University College of Medicine I learned how to become a doctor, what it really takes, and what I needed do with the gift I have been given,” says Dr Alister George, MD.

Howard University College of Medicine prepared Dr Alister George, MD to be an an outstanding physician but they also taught him to always remember those who cannot do for themselves. Dr Alister George, MD believes that you must help out your fellow man. Dr Alister George, MD believes that physicians should volunteer their time whenever and wherever they can because it demonstrates true honor and respect for the field of medicine.

Dr Alister George, MD was proud the day he took the Hippocratic Oath to help the sick. He still believes in those powerful words and continues to practice medicine honestly and truthfully. Dr Alister George, MD gives back to as many patients as he can. It does not matter to him their income level. Dr Alister George, MD donates his gastroenterology consultations and procedures regularly to help the Conejo Free Clinic provide care to those less fortunate. He also travels to Jamaica on a medical missionary trip for a week every year with a group doctors and nurses to help out in the poorer regions of the country.

Dr Alister George, MD says doctors do not have to travel far to give back. He suggests volunteering medical services for a local clinic, providing free medical seminars for the community, providing medical services during a health fair day, and if possible, advising young doctors on how they can raise the standard of Medicine by giving back to those in need. Dr Alister George, MD believes volunteering his medical expertise is excellent medicine for the soul.
