Importance of driving tests

Different countries have different rules for issuing of driving licenses which are valid in their country but which may or may not be valid in other countries. Some countries recognize the driving licenses that are issued by certain countries.

This is when rules and regulations that are required to pass driving test in that country are at par with those in their country.
Although the rules for issuing a driving license and the traffic laws in most countries are similar to a large degree, the difference is in the implementation of these laws. The strictness with which the laws are adhered to varies from country to country and that is why it is easier to pass a driving test in some countries than in others. It is very easy to find which is the more strict country from the state of the traffic in the country. Countries that are lax in implementing traffic laws and easily issue driving licenses will have a chaotic traffic with reckless and rash drivers and naturally there will be more accidents.
It is much better policy to make drivers and riders learn all traffic rules before letting them run amok on the roads where they can pose a definite threat to the general public. This can be achieved by making it difficult to pass your driving test and making sure that you not only know all the rules but also follow them when you drive. To get the driving license, it is necessary therefore to pass driving test consisting of a written test and a practical driving test. The written test finds your knowledge of traffic laws and driving rules. It is also possible to know whether you can read and understand road signs which are indicators, alerts and warnings to make driving safer and regulate traffic in an orderly manner.
Just knowing the traffic rules or being able to read road signs are not sufficient to make a good and safe driver. You should be able to drive safely on the road which is possible only if you pass your driving test because it can be gauged only in a practical test whether you follow the rules that you know while you are driving. When you say that a driver has been able to pass driving test it means that he knows both theoretical as well as the practical rules of driving and the traffic laws of the land. He can then be issued a driving license which is an official permission for him to drive a vehicle for a definite period of time.
Just being able to pass your driving test does not give you a license to break the traffic rules now that you have the license to drive on highways and public roads. Many countries implement a point system whereby if a driver is caught committing a driving offence for more than six times in a year, his license may be revoked.
