women with breast pain may be not a much serious problem, not necessary to have many tests

In life, a number of women have experienced an episode of breast pain, but in fact, few cases are attached a latent tendency to cancer.

You can find some findings on women breast pain in Journal of General Internal Medicine, which tells a fact that when women have breast pain, sometimes it’s not a must to undergo mammograms(image test) as well as a series of following diagnostic testings.

In life, a number of women have experienced an episode of breast pain, but in fact, few cases are attached a latent tendency to cancer.

The researchers from Boston Medical Center (BMC) and Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) gathered 916 women who had complained from 2006-2009 for breast pain at Boston Medical Center. They divided them into 2 groups of women who received imaging to evaluate breast pain and women who did not and make a comparison between the 2 groups. Finally, of them 6 were informed of cancer. Though in past some studies have suggested that other tests following the routine mammogram could provide reassurance for women with breast pain, the clinical management can’t figure out the root causes of breast pain.

So don’t worry too much and take it easy. Sometimes women with breast pain is completely normal phenomenon. In fact, as long as your standard breast examination shows nothing abnormal, the addition of an ultrasound, MRI or mammogram do not help a lot at the doctors’ decision, which on the opposite, does have a underlying negative side effect, including additional doctor visits, more mammograms and other tests together with more biopsies. "More tests are not always a good thing, which will involve further tests or even biopsies that themselves have some risk. Sometimes they can provide nothing benefit but increasing anxiety to the patient." Mary Beth Howard said, BUSM Class of 2015.

So to speak, if imaging for women breast pain can really bring benefit for health, it makes sense. Women with bread pain shouldn’t be suggested to receive the additional imaging studies unless there is a focal breast complaint, such as a mass or lump.
