The song “The Long Road” was written about the mum of the Lead Singer Vince Barmes and the frontman of Free From Gravity about her recovery from cancer using an integrative approach. It is a touching story of how together with a positive attitude and the love and support of family and friends, how cancer can be beaten .
This melody has such feeling in the song and the verses, it truly has that sort of regular vibe in the vocals that makes you need to move your socks off, yet in the meantime it truly hits home as far as the story and the narrative.
They launched the single on 5th April at The Water Rats Theatre in London to great aplomb. They then supported Mark Morris (of The Bluetones - famous in the UK in the 90s) at Brixtonn Jamm London.
The video was directed and shot in Idaho, US. The cast and crew were all volunteers and most had their own story of recovery. The lead character - Bandana girl - suffers from Ausbergers Syndrome and has not smiled nor touched anyone for two years – the results are there in the video to see and her mum was in tears.
It was showcased at the SandPoint Film Festival as a short film and shortlisted and has recently been reviewed by the same organisation where the director Kari Thompson gave a presentation about the story.
