“Swiss tales: fairy tales and legends from whole Switzerland” by Francesca Orelli lands on Amazon Kindle Unlimited

To celebrate the new romance, the Ticino-based authoress Francesca Orelli has decided to make "Swiss tales: fairy tales and legends from whole Switzerland" available for free to subscribers to Amazon's Kindle Unlimited service.

On June 22, 2022, ten years after the release of her first romance "Nelle mani della ribelle" (available only in Italian), Francesca Orelli published "Seduzione al buio", the first chapter of a new romance saga starring the primordial gods of Hesiod's Theogony, which will be released in the United States and other English-language countries as "The Mistress of the Night".

To celebrate the new romance, although U.S. and English-speaking readers will still have to be patient before they can read "The Mistress of the Night", the Ticino-based authoress has decided to make "Swiss tales: fairy tales and legends from whole Switzerland", her (for the time being, at least) only English-language book, which in the previous four months has been one of her most-read books in the United States, England, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands, available for free to subscribers to Amazon's Kindle Unlimited service.

“Swiss tales: fairy tales and legends from whole Switzerland”: what it is and what it's about

"Swiss tales: fairy tales and legends from whole Switzerland" is a collection of twenty-seven mystery, horror, fantasy and folktales from all the Swiss cantons, which were carefully selected by Francesca Orelli and then, later, translated from German to Italian and, later, from Italian to English and Spanish (the French version is still in the works, but should be out in the fall).

An absolute gem is the fairy tale "The ghosts of the Cetto Alp", an ancient legend from Canton Ticino and the Muggio Valley, where the authoress lives with her parents, which Orelli has reinterpreted and repurposed to make it more fun for her readers to read.

The main characters? Don Spinelli, a mountain priest grappling with quite a “spiritual” mystery and who, between Masses, does not fail to let fly harsh words or the occasional slap in the face to those he calls “the Godless Liberal” (in this he is very reminiscent of his far more famous namesake, Guareschi's Don Camillo), the sacristan Cereghetti, don Spinelli's wimpiest right-hand man but with whom he manages to build up sympathetic scenes to the sound of jokes and jabs; Cabbio, the village that, along with Muggio, received the gold medal for Switzerland's most beautiful village in 2015; and a farmhouse, located on the Cetto Alp and owned by Codoni, that will give the priest and his helper more than one headache.

However, the energetic Don Spinelli is not the only character who appears in "Swiss tales: fairy tales and legends from whole Switzerland", because the collection of tales, the first of its kind to include the most beautiful fairy tales and legends from the twenty-seven Swiss cantons, also features nocturnal horses that do not hesitate to help people or, conversely, to play tricks on them, werewolves, saints, monsters who protect Nature from its most dangerous animal, the mankind, women who advise men on decisions to be made, seers, always women, who change the fate of a country for the better, Norse gods, and even the Devil itself, who, however, will be defeated by the cunning of a farmer.

A summer read to browse at the beach, take with you on a trip or give as a gift to children as well as adults.

For fans of romance novels: rumors seem to confirm that, "The Mistress of the Night", the new romance by the Ticino-based authoress, will arrive in August. Will it be true?

We just have to wait, because soon the summer will become very hot, and not only because of the sun...
