Burlington, Ontario, May 05, 2025— First Steps Learning & Child Care Centre Inc., a trusted provider of early childhood education in Burlington, has officially received its new licensing approval that has increased the centre’s capacity to care for 72 children. This expansion follows the Centre’s relocation in 2018 to a larger, newly renovated facility at 3350 South Service Road.
Since the opening of First Step Learning in 2005, the centre has been blessed to have experienced early childhood educators and staff and their commitment helps us offer a safe and nurturing environment for children from infants to preschoolers. The Centre’s decision to expand its licensed capacity comes after years of operating at full capacity at its previous location. With the added space, First Steps Learning is now able to serve more families while continuing to provide personalized, high-quality child care services.
A Larger Space to Foster Growth
The newly renovated 5000-square-foot centre features bright, spacious classrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural light to flood the learning spaces. First Step Learning centre’s this expansion allows for the addition of new programs and enables the centre to provide more individualized attention to each child.
The FSL Centre focuses on children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play-based learning and inquiry-based activities.
Adherence to Ontario’s Early Learning Framework
First Steps Learning, in its childhood educational program, follows the How Does Learning Happen? framework. This approach emphasizes the four foundational conditions for child growth: Belonging, Well-Being, Expression, and Engagement. Educators at First Steps Learning work closely with each child to make sure that developmental needs are met through a combination of hands-on activities and an environment that encourages exploration and learning.
