The massive earthquake which hit Haiti nearly fourteen months ago has left up to 200,000 dead, tens of thousands of injured and sick, and 3 million people affected in other ways—out of Haiti’s population of 9 million people.
But the highest priority today is to get as much direct help to the Haitian Children as possible.
God’s Children Ministries, A Christian Relief and Development organization working in Haiti since 1989 is still assisting the Haitian people.
A massive aid effort has been mounted by God’s Children Ministries to continue to alleviate the suffering of the needy people in Haiti. “We encourage everyone to make an individual contribution, as well as getting community organizations, churches and other groups to pitch in. Every penny counts” said Hassan Kauffman, director of direct relief program.
Nearly 195,000 people throughout Haiti have been infected with cholera. This has resulted in almost 4,000 deaths.
Though the epidemic has not reached its peak, the lowest number of deaths was reported Jan. 12-16, according to the World Health Organization.
God’s Children Ministries continues to respond to this epidemic. To date, the following items have been distributed to families, medical center and clinics:
* Almost 19,000 water filters
* 70,000 oral serums for rehydration
* More than 550 boxes of soap
* At least 36,000 purifying tablets

In addition, all the medical clinics, schools and orphanages have been provided with hand sanitizers and chlorine production machines to use during regular center activities and to give out to families as well.

Please pray for an end to this outbreak before any more lives are affected. Pray for healing for those who have been affected.
Money, equipment, medicine, supplies, cars, food and skilled volunteers (doctors, nurses, CNAs, carpenters, masons, students etc.) are all needed. There are many charities and organizations that are still providing help on the ground in Haiti. We encourage you to give what you can to this important humanitarian effort.
The reconstruction effort overall is hampered by the failure to deliver or spend billions of dollars in promised aid. Americans donated more than $1.4 billion to private organizations to help survivors and rebuild, but just 38 percent has been spent to provide recovery and rebuilding aid, according to a Chronicle of Philanthropy survey of 60 major relief organizations.
We all must seek to keep the Haitian people in our thoughts and support them with our deeds.
