Gilbert Starleigh’s dedication to volunteerism and helping others stems from his Christian faith. Gilbert Starleigh hopes to bring as many people to Christ as he can and to help people turn their lives around. Gilbert Starleigh works through faith-based, public, and private organizations to touch as many lives as he can. Gilbert Starleigh spends much of his time outside of his career helping others.
Gilbert Starleigh’s main objective in his work with others is Christian ministry. Gilbert Starleigh works through both Kairos Prison Ministry and Bill Glass Champions for Life. Kairos Prison Ministry works with both prisoners and their families. Kairos volunteers, like Gilbert Starleigh, share the word about a transformative and forgiving God in hopes that they can bring others to Him and change their lives. Champions for Life brings talented individuals, such as athletes and musicians, into prisons to share their talents and testimony in order to highlight the good that can come of a Godly life. Gilbert Starleigh thinks that ministering to prisoners is “extremely important. It not only gives these prisoners an opportunity to begin or strengthen a relationship with Jesus Christ, but also to turn their lives around for the betterment of our societies and communities,” says Gilbert Starleigh.
Gilbert Starleigh also works with those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. He has worked with church and private rehabilitation centers. Gilbert Starleigh has also worked in transitional homes for those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Gilbert Starleigh says that working with people at such a low point in their lives is both difficult and rewarding. “These people have already admitted they have a problem and want to get help,” says Gilbert Starleigh. While that is true, Gilbert Starleigh also admits that the process and maintaining a drug-free lifestyle is a hard and lifelong struggle for many of the people that he helps.
