Carbohydrates can be classified into two main groups - simple or complex.

 
If you're struggling to lose belly fat then I'd recommend cutting highly processed carbohydrates from your diet. I'm not saying cut all your carbohydrates from your diet, Carbohydrates are your main source of fuel or energy; they are also a great source of dietary fiber, which is essential for good digestion and to keep your blood sugar stable which will help you lose belly fat, however, I am saying to cut any foods that come in a box, bag or wrapper - most of these foods contain too many processed carbohydrates which by the way are bad for you, too much sugar, too much salt and way too many additives.

Carbohydrates are a very important part of a long-term fat loss plan, but a diet too high in carbohydrates, especially if they are processed carbohydrates, can upset the delicate balance of your body's blood sugar level, which can lead to increased storage of belly fat along with fluctuations in energy and mood that leave you feeling irritated and tired. It's better to balance your intake of carbohydrates with protein, a little healthy fat and fiber. Increasing the amount of fiber in your food is another way to increase the loss of belly fat and promote a healthier diet plan.
