[Hollywood, Florida ] - Gummakonda Reddy Foundation, a not-for-profit private foundation, is making a significant contribution to education by donating 2,500 school backpacks along with essential school supplies to five schools in South Florida. This initiative, aimed at supporting underprivileged students, is part of the foundation's ongoing commitment to empowering students and parents in need.
The pressing need for school supplies among students is evident, as revealed by a recent survey conducted by the national non-profit organization, Kids in Need Foundation. The survey highlighted that an alarming 90% of teachers reported three out of four students arriving at their classrooms without the necessary supplies required for effective learning.
Broward school board member Brenda Fam, expressed her appreciation for the Gummakonda Reddy Foundation's contribution, stating, "A little change can make a big impact. For these students, school supplies are a luxury, and we are so grateful for the community's help in getting our students off to a great start this fall. Shekar Reddy and his foundation is always helpful to support our community"
The significance of this initiative is further emphasized by Shea Ciriago, CEO of Broward Education Foundation, who stated, "More than 200,000 students in Broward County live in poverty, which makes our School Supply Drive so important. We all want the best for our students and want to give them what they need to succeed”
The Gummakonda Reddy Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, has been dedicated to serving students and parents in need for the past decade. Their annual school supply drive plays a vital role in alleviating the burden on teachers and families by providing essential supplies and necessities for student success. Foundation raises its funds mainly thru personal contributions from its founders Shekar and Shylaja Reddy.
