Raia Handily Wins Re-Election as Town Clerk GOP Takes All Five Town Board Seats for the First Time Since 1957 Bontempi Re-Elected for a Second Term

The Huntington Republican Committee is proud to announce that its Town Clerk and town Council candidates were victorious on Election Day, as well as Stephanie Bontempi for re-election as County Legislator in the 18th District.

Brooke Lupinacci and Theresa Mari won their respective Town Council elections, joining fellow GOP board members Ed Smyth, Salvatore Ferro and Dr. Dave Bennardo. This is the first time since 1957 that Huntington has had an all-Republican Town Board.

“When we took over the majority in 2021, we promised the citizens of Huntington that we would keep Huntington the best place on Long Island to live, work and raise a family,” said Thomas M. McNally, Chairman, Huntington GOP. “Tuesday’s election results confirm that we have delivered on that promise.”

Mr. McNally said Ms. Lupinacci and Ms. Mari “will help build on the successes of the past two years to make Huntington an even stronger, safer and more affordable place to live while maintaining our unmatched quality of life.”

Andrew Raia was the top vote-getter on the Huntington GOP ticket, garnering nearly 60% of the vote in the race for Town Clerk. “Andrew ran a very strong campaign,” Mr. McNally said. “This was a mandate for government efficiency and the results showed that.”

Additionally, Ms. Bontempi won a close election to remain as Suffolk County Legislator for the 18th District. “Stephanie’s race was a hard-fought one,” Mr. McNally said. “Her re-election allows her to work with the new county executive, Ed Romaine, to make Suffolk a safer and more affordable place to live. I wish to congratulate Ed on his victory and our candidates on their successful campaigns.”
