The Immigration Minister of Canada, Sean Fraser announced to extend the expired PGWPs for another 18 months and those with PGWPs can now work for 4.5 years in Canada.

Ottawa, Canada - The Canadian government has announced a major change to the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program, which will now allow international students to work in Canada for up to 4.5 years after graduation. The announcement was made by Sean Fraser, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and MP for Central Nova, who has been a strong advocate for immigration and the contributions of international students to the Canadian economy.

The PGWP program allows international students who have graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable work experience in Canada, which can help them become eligible for permanent residency in the country. The program is a key factor in attracting international students to Canada, and has been instrumental in helping the country retain some of its best and brightest talent.

Previously, the PGWP program allowed graduates to work in Canada for a maximum of three years. With this new change, graduates will now be able to work for an additional 1.5 years, giving them more time to gain valuable work experience and contribute to the Canadian economy.

In a statement, Sean Fraser said, "This is a significant change that will have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of international students who choose to study in Canada. By allowing them to work in Canada for longer periods, we are sending a clear message that we value their contributions and want to make it easier for them to become permanent residents of our country."

The Canadian government has continued to prioritize immigration as a key driver of economic growth and innovation, and the PGWP program is an integral part of this strategy. The announcement by Sean Fraser is a major step towards making Canada a more attractive destination for international students, and ensuring that the country can continue to benefit from the contributions of this important demographic.
