Lanyards are a popular item for school kids, and for good reason! They're used to put IDs on display, hold keys, and even help new students find their way through the hallways. They are also a great way of easily identifying which year or class a child is in just by looking at the colour of the lanyard.

But with so many options out there, how do you know which lanyard is the best one for your school? We've put together this article as a guide to buying lanyards for schools. We hope that it is helpful in explaining the different types of material and how they are different from each other.

Here are 10 tips that'll help you find the perfect printed lanyards for your needs:

1) When choosing your lanyard color(s), make sure to keep in mind how they will look against your school brand colors. For example, if you're purchasing a lanyard to use to match your school's logo, it would be best to choose an aqua or purple color if those are the correct colours. There are many different colours available and many schools use different colours for different age groups.

2) If you're looking for a specific style of lanyard that goes with one of your school colours, consider getting the same type of material used. For instance, if you're going with the reds and blues colour scheme, pick out those colours in the same material. I recommended Woven Lanyard as best for students as these are very durable and are produced with different threads woven together.

3) If you need your lanyard for schools to be adjustable or removable, opt for a zipper instead of Velcro. A zipper will allow it to stretch and fit around keychains easily. There are many different accessories available to be attached to a lanyard such as buckles, clips and claws. Choose what is best for you and the students.

4) Choose your lanyard width based on what's most comfortable for your students and how much information will be printed onto the lanyard. The standard lanyard size is 900mm in length and 20mm in width, but this can be customized to suit any requirements.

5) For classroom use, consider getting a lanyard with an ID badge in plastic material. An ID badge holder can be used to carry students' IDs or identification cards and can be clipped to the front of their shirts so that they're always easily accessible.

6) Promotional lanyards are a great way to get your brand out there, but always make sure that your logo is visible. Logo placement is a common point of concern; make sure to order enough lanyards for you to take several samples home and check for visibility. It should be one of the first things you see on the lanyard together with any other important information such as a motto or contact details.

7) When ordering multiple lanyards with similar designs on them, try getting different colors for each. This will give them a more personalised look and make it easier to distinguish between them. For example, if the text is slightly different for a number of designs – make the lanyard colour different too so that it is easy to differentiate.

8) When making your purchase, don't forget about the metal rings at the bottom of the lanyard. These metal rings help hold the lanyard more securely to your keychain and can be an important part of making sure that it does not fall off suddenly. Most lanyards are supplied with a safety break as standard and this is very important and will prevent injuries from taking place if the lanyard gets caught in a door, lift or other moving objects. Make sure your lanyard will include a safety break for your students.

9) Make sure to have your school logo printed clearly on your lanyard so that it's easily visible. Some schools have their logos placed on the front or back of the lanyard, while others prefer having them printed as a patch on a separate piece of fabric. If your school logo or crest is intricate, we strongly recommend the sublimated finish as that allows for detailed designs to be printed. Polyester or woven lanyards are only for very simple logos or just text.

10) When ordering multiple lanyards, always have a few extras on hand. This is important when dealing with any sort of school supply, and also for any other situations in that your lanyard is exposed. It is only to be expected that some lanyards will get lost, misplaced, stolen, or eaten by the dog! So be sure to order 10-20% more than you need so that you have plenty of extra ones.
