Cleaning chandelier parts is important since a chandelier may constitute the central piece of the living room. However, cleaning them is no easy task. The difficulty of the cleaning process depends on the complexity of the design of each crystal. Moreover, there are always places hard to reach on the chandelier, which requires taking it apart for cleaning.
The first step is using a ladder that can help one have the chandeliers parts at the eye level. When unable to see what is being cleaned, the chandelier parts can be easily damaged or can simply fall off. Therefore, a ladder must be used to reach the level of the chandeliers parts.
The following step is dusting the chandelier parts by means of a dry piece of cloth that can eliminate dirt and cobwebs that have been accumulated in time. However, the light must be turned off before proceeding to dusting it all off.
Using a wet cloth is the next natural step. Mild detergent or chandelier parts cleaner can also be used. However, the cleaner must only consist of ammonia, water and alcohol in order to avoid leaving fingerprints on the chandeliers parts.
Cleaning the chandelier parts may sound easy so far, but it usually is not since it also requires avoiding all wires and electrical components. Therefore, great access to chandelier parts is always a plus and that can be achieved by moving the ladder around each time a new crystal piece has to be attended to. Furthermore, covering all the hard to reach places may sometimes seem like an impossible task to those who have little experience in cleaning chandelier parts.
Using cotton swabs is another effective trick. Areas that cannot be reached with a cloth can be reached with cotton swabs dipped into water. However, if this trick fails, the only solution left is taking apart the chandelier and cleaning its parts one by one. Nevertheless, taking the chandelier apart is not an easy task either. One must first study the way it is designed or even take pictures of it in order to remember what it looked like before being taken apart. Pictures can be very useful when guidance is needed in order to put the pieces back together. Being careful while handling the chandelier is a must since it is very delicate and can be easily damaged.
Putting the pieces together is almost as difficult as taking them apart. Using pictures of the chandelier can help place the crystals in the same order as before taking the chandelier apart.
The cleaning of chandeliers parts is recommended at least every six months, but learning more about chandeliers and the delicate way to handle them can be achieved by accessing sites that deal with selling or cleaning them. Moreover, it is always worthwhile checking out new designs of chandeliers that can be easily taken apart to be cleaned but are also sophisticated and modern in appearance.
