23rd March 2012 - Nothing would calm her down and she continued to wail even louder and she hadn’t paused crying even for a second since the past fifteen minutes. I had never seen her crying so much since the last three years of having given birth to her.
Toys along with an empty packet of candy from Sweet Services lay strewn all over and she hated to even give them a glance. All my efforts of consoling my little baby failed and I felt helpless. She was barely able to tell me what she wanted. This panicked me even more and I couldn’t decide my next step.
I didn’t give up as I knew that children of that age are often unable to express their desires and being a mother I had to guess her needs and wants. The television was switched on as it usually remained in my house. My daughter had already become a couch potato and she couldn’t live without this idiot box. Whether she understood anything or not is doubtful but her level of concentration needed commendable praise.
She would gaze at the screen without a wink of an eye and no one dared to surf the channels in her presence. There was this cartoon channel that she would remain glued to very often unless something excited her more. She had learnt to speak very clearly but most children are often moody and when they want something desperately they often do not ask for it. Instead, they begin to cry and I was quite aware of this unique nature of most children.
I had observed this habit in her often when she felt hungry. If ever I would get so engrossed in the homely chores and would get into oblivion about her feeding time, she would start wailing. She wouldn’t take a spoon inside her mouth without crying for few more minutes despite of me with the bowl full of her favorite food in my hand. After a lot of pampering would she finally agree to accept the meal!
But this time even this wasn’t working and then suddenly I picked the packet of candies lying beside her. I lifted the empty packet ad she began crying louder and it didn’t take much time for me to understand the root cause of the problem.
I sooner ordered several packs of her favorite candies from sweet services so that I am never out of stock and never have to experience the same situation.
