The situation worsens when the vicious Pazluvur chieftains, who support Prince Madurandaka, kidnap the Emperor. With the prospect of civil war hanging over the empire, the climax of the novel questions whether Prince Arulmozlivarman will succeed in this dangerous game of power and take the throne.
