SANTA FE, NM (May 26, 2015) – New Mexico’s award-winning design firm, Spears Horn Architects, has announced the elevation of James Horn to partnership in the company, formerly known as Spears Architects.

A long standing architecture firm known for their design of the Santa Fe Plaza Stage and the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, Spears Horn Architects has served New Mexico since 1981 focusing on commercial/institutional facilities, residential design, urban design, landscape architecture, and historic preservation.

“James has been such a valuable and integral member of our team,” said Spears Horn’s founder and director, Beverley Spears. “His intense creativity and professionalism make him everything that an architect should be. He is a crucial part of what makes Spears Horn stand out, and we wanted to recognize that.”

Mr. Horn has been a project architect with the firm for the past 15 years, during which time he personally oversaw projects such as the award-winning and nationally-recognized Lannan Foundation Meeting House and Solace Crisis Treatment Center, as well as the rehabilitation of the Santo Domingo Trading Post and some notable residential projects including the Tano Road House and the Butterfly House. Along with his many contributions to the firm, Mr. Horn plays an important role for the industry serving as President Elect of the Santa Fe Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

“This is a very joyful thing for me,” said Horn. “Especially since the way we work together at Spears Horn really does embody creative partnership. We harness everybody’s energy and spur each other on to take risks and surpass ourselves with every new project. I am thrilled to take on the role of Partner and I can’t imagine working anywhere else.”

During the past ten years, Spears Horn Architects has won more design awards from the American Institute of Architects than any other Santa Fe firm. The company has also been recognized by the City of Santa Fe, Santa Fean Magazine, Western Interiors Magazine, SuCasa Magazine, the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division, and the Old Santa Fe Association.
