KoreaGraph identified that pipelines frequently carrying materials, which in the event of damage or failure, can cause significant financial loss and serious potential for environmental damage. These pipelines often run long distances either underwater or underground.

KoreaGraph’s Chief Technology Officer commented on the research saying “Coating the pipes are essential to protect pipelines from corrosion and subsequent failure, but are also subject to degradation by hydrothermal aging and chemical degradation and could also block key elements like water, oxygen and salts from reaching the pipe surface.”

“Graphene sheets can offer a cheap and sustainable option for these industrial piping systems. KoreaGraph’s meticulous research has been carried out on the implementation and use of graphene including improved abrasion and corrosion resistance. Graphene materials will be tested to demonstrate its use in coating systems enabling improved performance and corrosion resistance,” added the Chief Technology Officer of KoreaGraph.
