Leanne Sklavenitis: Transforming Lives and Inspiring Hope Through Living Life with MND

Living an Awesome Life with MND, Leanne Skalvenitis uses AI to empower others in the face of adversity.

[Brisbane, June 2023] - Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cutting-edge technology, Leanne Sklavenitis embarked on a remarkable journey, reshaping her professional career as a personal trainer, speaker and coach, committed to inspiring others to conquer their own adversity.

Diagnosed in 2017 with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a deterioration of the nervous system affecting a person’s ability to walk, talk, swallow and breathe, Leanne was given a prognosis of 2 - 3 years. In a remarkable display of courage and determination, Leanne refused to let MND define her. Now in her seventh year, Leanne has embraced AI and technology to continue her mission of inspiring and motivating others in the face of their own adversity.

Despite the challenges she faces, Leanne's story is an inspiration to many, demonstrating the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Unable to walk, speak, or even move her arms, Leanne uses cutting-edge AI text-to-voice tools and eye-gaze technology, to amplify her voice. In her captivating presentation she shares her personal journey of living an awesome life with MND, offering audiences a unique perspective on how she challenges her mindset in the face of her own adversity. Leanne’s powerful message of hope, determination, and the potential of technology to transform lives, continues to touch the hearts of audiences nationwide.

Leanne is delighted to be joining guest speakers, including Neurology Specialist Associate Professor Dr Robert Henderson, at the MND Queensland Blue Cornflower Tribute Ceremony on 23 June, 2023. This special event pays tribute to those battling MND and remembers those lost to the disease, culminating with lighting up the Story Bridge in blue for national Blue Cornflower Day during MND Week 2023.
