Couples are upgrading their honeymoon holiday packages and visiting top destinations. There is also an increase in how long they spend on honeymoon, based on recent data. The research shows that honeymoons are increasing since the pandemic. The coronavirus impacted just shy of one hundred percent of honeymoon plans forcing couples to cancel, postpone or reduce their honeymoon experience.

There is an estimated 4.7 million weddings taking place in 2022 and 2023 and now couples are planning even better honeymoons than they originally planned for. For many couples this will be their first holiday since the pandemic. Fifty three percent of those planning to get married are spending more on their honeymoons and fifty nine percent want to go to destinations that they haven't explored before.

Couples are also working with travel specialists that offer bespoke honeymoon holiday packages to get the best of their travel experience. They want their honeymoon to be more special than they originally planned. With more than sixty five percent of couples adding a honeymoon fund to their wedding registry, there is more focus on the honeymoon experience than the registry items.

Eighty three percent of couples that are due to get married this year are thinking of having two honeymoons. One is a quick trip after the wedding and an extended honeymoon later on. Couples who did have a honeymoon during the pandemic were very restricted on where they could go and fifty four percent of them are not happy with the honeymoon they experienced and are looking to have a second honeymoon in the coming months.
